Everyone recognizes the problem: we talk over or across one another and rarely with one another about things that ultimately matter. We say we want the common good but our discourse has become coarsened and our rhetoric both defensive and offensive.
At CGCN we want to foster conversation based in genuine fellowship. Everyone here shares the common calling to serve as Kingdom Ambassadors in the midst of the kingdoms of this world. No one here is trying to make a name for themselves but to make the name of Jesus great.
We’re also here because we genuinely believe in the unity of the Body of Christ – even as we worship and lead in a myriad of denominational environments. We serve a common Christ and we desire to find common cause with one another as together we seek the common good of this generation.
God called this effort into being a few years ago and as the political, media and organizational environments have changed, we have spent time discerning what God is calling CGCN to contribute to the conversation. What we have learned is that many Christians feel very alone. They feel isolated from constructive conversation and they are bereft of genuine relationships like the first disciples enjoyed with one another. How do we begin reconnecting the sinews severed by division and how do we learn anew to enjoy and lean upon one another as fellow members of the Body of Christ? We do not all agree on everything but we all agree on the main thing: we all agree on Jesus. We all agree on the Solas of the Reformation. We all acknowledge the common ground of Creation, the Cross and the Kingdom – and we all see that we have a common cause in the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom purposes in the kingdoms of this world.
If you desire fellowship, good conversation and ideas that both inspire and challenge, you’re welcome here. Sign up for the email so you’ll get information about the monthly Culture Call where we discuss concerns relevant to us all.
We see one another face to face at events throughout the year and we’re working on how to live into regional expressions of CGCN so that others can experience the fellowship those of us in leadership enjoy. If you’ve been looking for your brothers and your sisters – those ardently seeking to do the will of the Father in the right here/right now world – you have found your people and your place. Welcome to the Common Ground Christian Network.
